First edition. Full leather. Hardback. Folio. [viii] / 911 pages plus 4 pages of adverts. iv / 916 pages plus 4 pages of adverts. Contemporary brown blind stamped panelled calf. Six raised bands. Red title plate with gilt lettering between first two bands. Owners name and date inscribed on front end page plus ink name stamp. Hinges cracked and held by cord. corners showing. Heads and tails of backstrips chipped. Corners and edges bumped with some surface wear and slight loss. Slight browning to pages. Title plate missing from volume two. First and last few pages have slight wear to edges. It appears that there was once metal clasps attatched to volume 1 which has been removed leaving part of the clasp to back cover. There are a few small worm holes to some pages.
