First Edition. Full natural tan leather binding with gilt lettering to the spine. Hardback. 8vo. 5 1/4" x 8 1/4". 382 pages. Owners inscription on front endpaper reads "John and Mary Pryor." Printed stamp on prelims reads "Henry Manser. The Lynch Hoddesdon. "There is wear to all edges. the hinges on the spine are cracked 2" on the bottom and 2 1/2" at the top. There is a slight browning to the edges of the pages. the gilt rules on the spine are also fading. An account of a Quaker womans travels to meeting houses in England. Scotland. Ireland and the United States. born in England. traveled to South Carolina where she comments on slavery. and then goes up the east coast. then back to Europe. Mrs Phillips is said to have considerable knowledge of medicine and botany and is said to have "published something on planting and beautifying waste grounds" but no such works seem to be known.

There is also an accompanying booklet of architectural notes on St. Albans Abbey with bookplate. Light foxing to pages. Corners and edges of covers and spine worn. Pages are rippled.
